Liza Jean's desire to be on stage started at a young age after first hearing mainstream pop on the radio in the late 90s. While the genre's changed over the years, the desire didn't. She has been singing since she was a child, and took up various instruments throughout her life including piano, flute, and saxophone. She sings in an alto-mezzo range. Her influences as a musician include bands like Icon for Hire, Amaranthe, The Pretty Reckless, and Halestorm.
She joined Alice Sweet Alice officially in May 2017, and is incredibly excited to be working with such an amazing and talented group of people.
Guitar - Bass - Vocals
Scott was attracted to music at an early age. One of his earliest memories is hooking up a stereo in his bedroom and learning the words to songs on the radio. Coming from a family of musicians, and seeing somebody play guitar around a campfire when he was very young, that instrument is what first captured his imagination. Talking his parents into getting him a guitar, Scott took lessons for a short time, and then moved to bass in high school, playing with punk bands in the area. His 80's band released an album on vinyl when he was 19, and that started his interest in studio recording and performing. After playing bass for most of his career, and for the first decade of Alice Sweet Alice, Scott has now switched to guitar - which was his first love.
Piano - Vocals - Violin
Theo got his start at about age 3, when he started teaching himself to play piano, and has been composing and improvising music for as long as he can remember. At the age of 7, he started learning violin, and along with piano, he's been playing ever since. Throughout high school and college, he was very active in choral music, singing with the top choirs in each, and was the sole recipient of the Shawnee Mission North Choral Music Scholarship for the class of 2006. He has appeared in university opera productions such as Suor Angelica, Hänsel und Gretel, and Dido and Aeneas. He now holds a B.M. in Music Composition from UMKC, where he studied with composers such as Chen Yi, Zhou Long, and Paul Rudy.
Theo is actively involved in both the classical and non-classical worlds as a singer, pianist, violinist, and violist. He has played The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS as well as the Riot Room and the Uptown Arts Bar in Kansas City, opening for bands such as Angelspit and Math the Band. In addition to making electronic music, he plays piano at Spirit of Hope MCC in Westport, and he is a member of Schola Cantorum at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, as well as the KC-based bands Alice Sweet Alice and Modern Day Fitzgerald. When not making music actively, Theo enjoys painting, drawing, crocheting, studying foreign languages, and making jewelry.
All in all, Theo lives for his greatest passion - creating art of all kinds - and he doesn't see that stopping anytime soon.
Being raised in a house of musicians, it didn’t take long for Tangelo to find his niche with the family jam sessions. His mother was a singer/flutist and father was a guitarist, so he wanted to balance those treble voices with something he thought was missing. Tangelo found his calling with the bass guitar and Baritone sax by the age of 12. Those lower voices and rhythmic counter melodies truly resonate with him. He minored in music at SEMO and was active in marching, concert, and jazz bands throughout his undergraduate career. He’s played with a wide variety of groups from pit orchestras to heavy metal bands and enjoys everything in between. He furthered his education at UCM achieving his MS in biology and managed to keep practicing his instruments but had to sacrifice stage time and musical fellowship to accomplish this. He’s very excited to re-emerge as the bassist for Alice Sweet Alice!
